Teaching Chinese Language in Putonghua

  • Full adoption of school-based pinyin materials for all levels;

  • Use of multi-dimensional activities (e.g. radio drama, speech and drama, interview) to create language environment to nurture students’ listening and speaking skills;

Reading as the backbone to the teaching of “reading”, “speaking”, “listening” and “speaking”

  • Reading as the key line; listening and speaking as the prerequisites to writing;

  • For junior levels, “Writing while speaking” is the main theme; for upper levels, “Read-write convergence” is developed;

  • Reading strategies and thinking skills are developed through reading lessons;

  • Stress on standard language to nurture linguistic sense;

  • In addition to extensive reading, we promote the reading of “assigned books”

  • Pre-lesson preparation;

  • Note-taking during lessons;

  • Make better use of electronic teaching platforms for learning development;

  • Use of tool books
